Pillars of Birch XIV

Description

The birch grove is a boundary, a threshold. The masked figure stands at its heart, bathed in light and suspended in motion. The wind animates the coat, but the mask remains impassive—a contrast between the ephemeral and the eternal.

“Every exit is an entry somewhere else,” wrote Tom Stoppard. This image feels like such a moment—something closing, something opening. The mask is a cipher, inviting us to wonder: Is this figure stepping into the past or the future? Or is this a place entirely outside of time?

The slender and unbroken trees form pillars of silence, an architecture of light and shadow. Within them, the figure is neither lost nor found—only present.
